Xenos is Grieks voor ‘vreemd’. Alles wat je in onze winkel vindt, is dus net even anders. Stuk voor stuk bijzondere artikelen met een verhaal. We brengen ze voor je mee uit alle windstreken van de wereld. Soms zijn ze ’n tikkeltje gek, dan weer heel avontuurlijk. Of lekker. Maar altijd ongewoon leuk.Xenos is in 1973 opgericht binnen de kruideniersformule P. de Gruyter & zn., naar model van een winkelformule uit het oosten van de Verenigde Staten. Uit landen als China en India werden artikelen geïmporteerd die in Nederland nog nergens in de schappen lagen. Xenos is Grieks voor ‘vreemd’, waarmee het voor Nederland destijds nog e assortiment direct de juiste benaming kreeg. Alles wat leuk, anders en lekker was kon je er kopen.In de jaren ’80 werd Xenos onderdeel van de Blokker-holding, waardoor het assortiment werd vergroot en het aantal winkels fors uitgebreid. Vanuit de eerste drie vestigingen in Eindhoven, Amsterdam en Utrecht groeide Xenos uit tot een internationale keten van woon-, huishoud- en cadeauwinkels, waar trendy, decoratieve, verrassende en praktische producten en accessoires tegen lage prijzen worden verkocht. Op dit moment heeft Xenos zo’n 300 winkels in Nederland en Duitsland.
